Support Resources

At Coby Counselling, your safety and wellbeing is our top priority. While counselling can provide meaningful support, there may be times when additional or immediate help is needed. The resources below are provided in line with Australian Counselling Association (ACA) ethical standards and are available to support you between sessions or in urgent situations.

Immediate Danger

If you or someone else is at immediate risk of harm:

  • Call Emergency Services: 000

  • Go to your nearest hospital emergency department

Counselling services are not a crisis or emergency service. If you are unable to keep yourself safe, please seek immediate assistance.

Ongoing Support

If you are seeking longer-term or specialised support, you may wish to consider:

  • Speaking with your GP about a Mental Health Treatment Plan

  • Referral to a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist for assessment or medication support

  • Local community mental health services

  • Trusted faith leaders or pastoral carers (where appropriate and desired)

Your counsellor can assist with suggestions that align with your needs and preferences.

During Counselling

If you are experiencing increasing distress, thoughts of self-harm, or changes in your safety between sessions, please raise this with your counsellor as soon as possible.

In accordance with ACA ethical obligations, your counsellor may work collaboratively with you to support safety, including referral to appropriate services when required.

Counselling is confidential within the limits set by Australian law and ACA ethical guidelines. If there is a serious and immediate risk to your safety or the safety of others, your counsellor has a duty of care to take appropriate steps to protect life, which may include contacting emergency services or relevant supports.

If you would like help navigating any of these resources or discussing what support may be most helpful for you, please contact Coby Counselling or raise this in your next session.
